During times like these, we should be strengthening our local communities to prepare for future hardships. We have become too reliant on the federal, and even the state governments on many levels. And when we do tell them what we want, they rarely listen! We need to band together for political power and for the safety and sustainability of our communities. What happens if the dollar & the economy collapses? What if there are wide-spread food shortages? What about natural disasters even? Is your community prepared for that? Look what happened with Hurricane Katrina. A colossal failure of the community to be prepared for a tragic event, and a failure of the government to manage the emergency as they apparently promised they would be able to (through organizations like FEMA).
Maybe it is time we band together with our neighbors and start doing the things that the government can't, won't or shouldn't do. Here's where we can discuss many of these initiatives to bring about more cohesive, self-reliant communities. If we grow our own food, they can't taint it with pesticides, chemicals and unproven genetically modified crops. If we barter or create our own sound money, they can't control us at the state level and demand we follow unconstitutional or un-funded federal mandates. If we prepare ourselves for disaster and hardship, we won't have to trade our sovereignty, independence and freedoms for their supposed "security". If we band together as a singular voice, we can give power and authority to the words of "We the People", so that when we do demand something that our government should legitimately provide us, they will finally listen!
